Use at your own risk
CPS HSAT Prep is provided free of charge, “as is”, with no warranty of any kind. We make no guarantees about score improvement, admission to any specific school, or accuracy of practice questions to the actual exam. Score projections shown in the app are educated estimates based on public CPS scoring formulas, not guarantees.
Optional support
The entire app is and stays free — no feature is ever locked behind payment. If you choose to support the project on the Support page, that contribution is voluntary, does not unlock anything, and is not tax-deductible. Support payments are processed by Stripe and are generally non-refundable; for a refund request, contact us and we’ll do our best to help.
Not affiliated with CPS or ACT
This app is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Chicago Public Schools, the CPS Office of Access and Enrollment, or ACT, Inc. (maker of the PreACT 9 Secure, the current CPS admissions test). The names “CPS”, “HSAT”, and “PreACT” are used descriptively to identify what the app prepares for.
The official source of truth for the HSAT exam, application timeline, and SEHS admission process is the GoCPS portal at cps.edu/gocps.
Content licensing
Practice questions are either original (CC0 — public domain) or adapted from public-domain state assessments (NYSED Grade 8, Massachusetts MCAS, Illinois IAR, Smarter Balanced). Each question carries a source and license field visible in the question explanation.
Reading passages are original CC0. Strategy lessons, vocabulary, and study plan content are original CC0.
The app code is MIT-licensed.
Acceptable use
You agree to use the app for lawful, personal, non-commercial purposes. You will not attempt to disrupt the service for other users, scrape large volumes of content, or attempt to reverse-engineer the question generation in ways that would harm the integrity of the practice experience.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operators of CPS HSAT Prep are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the app, including missed score targets, missed admission opportunities, or loss of locally-stored progress.
Changes
We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
